We sat at round tables under a blue tarp- 120 bodies smelling of sweat and dirt. Junior High is such an awkward age.
Fruit punch and water were spilled on nearly all of the twenty tables.
The man in front tried desperately to hush the crowd. They were hungry, ready to eat, and realized they needed to quiet down before they would get food.
Teens shooshed one another as Michael, an 8th grader, began to pray,
"Dear Lord, Thank you for the food. Thank you for the camp. Thank you for You. Thank you for us. And thank you for them."

God wants obedience and loyalty more than sacrifice. Certainly that is ya'll. God must be pleased when He looks at your efforts. Oh, to be so F.A.T. as ya'll are now. I am praying God will bless every effort you make this week. Bret, remember that angels never experienced faith--they study us humans to try to understand it---and you are being an excellent "study"...Keep on keepin' on and I'll keep on praying. May God bless His work through you!
Prayed this morning that God would use you as a "shaping influence" in the lives of these Jr. Highers who are all ears. Preach and live Christ before them friend.
thanks for the prayers mike (& kaz!)- what kind of an acronym is F.A.T.? does it have a double meaning ;)
your words were encouraging to me during the week
Early in my Christian walk I was told that I just needed to be F.A.T. and God would take care of the rest. I needed to be "Faithful", "Available", and "Teachable" and God would see to my spiritual growth. Since I have known you-you have always turned your heart toward God and been faithful, available, and teachable. It is easy to pray for a man who has such a compassionate heart like God has...and I am praying that everyone who heard your words this past week would give themselves to His compassion.
